Important PRICE GUIDE

EFA Family Update: Q1 Funding, FAQs, and Price Guidance

Dear EFA Families,

The first Q1 funding date is tomorrow, Thursday, August 20. We wanted to send out a few quick reminders around funding and provide some additional guidance around pricing for some expenses.

Funding FAQs

When should I expect funds to be available in my ClassWallet account?

The funding process is usually initiated some time in the morning. Most families will have access to their funds by early afternoon.

If you log in during the funding event, your ClassWallet account may display a message saying that your purse is suspended. This is normal during funding, and that suspension will be lifted once funding is complete.

Do I need to take any additional action to access my funds?

If you have not received funds yet this year, then you will need to accept the affidavit before the funds will be visible and available for use. Sometimes, the affidavit pops up automatically when you log in, but you may need to click on the link in the balance tile to access it.

If you have multiple students in the program, you are required to accept an affidavit for each student each year.

How do I know that I received Q1 funds?

You should get an email from ClassWallet. You should also be able to log in and either accept the affidavit or see your funds already reflected in your balance tile.

If you do not receive an email from ClassWallet, can't locate the affidavit, and still show $0 in your balance tile, then your student may not have received Q1 funds.

What do I do if my student did not receive Q1 funds?

Be on the lookout for an additional email from our office with more information. If you did not link to your school/homeschool until this week, you may not receive Q1 funds tomorrow, but we will add you to the next available funding distribution.

We understand that planning for educational expenses can sometimes feel overwhelming. To help families prepare, we have created a pricing guidance list that includes many of the expenses parents commonly ask about. This is a living document that we will update throughout the year as additional questions and resources emerge. We hope you find it useful as you plan and budget for your family's needs.

EFA Program Price Guidance

Clarifying Questions

If I buy something on this list in the price range indicated, is it automatically approved?

No. The prices in this guide are intended to help families estimate reasonable costs for commonly requested items. Approval is based on whether the purchase meets program requirements, not on the purchase price alone. In many cases, families may need to demonstrate how the item supports the student's education, is required for a course, or aligns with a specific learning goal. All purchases are reviewed individually to determine eligibility.

What should I do if the item I need costs more than the amount listed?

The price ranges in this guide are intended to provide general guidance and do not represent maximum allowable amounts in every circumstance. If an item that supports your student's educational needs exceeds the listed range, we recommend submitting a preapproval request with supporting documentation. This helps ensure the request can be reviewed and eligibility determined before the purchase is made.

Is the nonqualifying expense list a comprehensive list of all ineligible items?

The nonqualifying expense list is not intended to include every item that may be ineligible. Some expenses are specifically prohibited by state law or program rules, while others may not qualify because they do not meet the program's educational purpose or ordinary and necessary expense requirements. Every expense is reviewed individually, so an item's absence from the nonqualifying expense list does not automatically mean it will be approved.

We hope these resources and reminders help you start the year with confidence. We are excited for the opportunities this school year will bring and look forward to continuing to support EFA families throughout the year.
