New to homeschooling?
Are you just starting out on your homeschooling journey in Arkansas and are not certain exactly where to start? It can be a lot at first to figure out but homeschool setup is not hard. That said there ARE laws and rules you must follow. The first of those is the Notice of Intent to homeschool. This form MUST be completed for each student homeschooling in the state between June 15th and August 15th for each upcoming school year. This does not mean you cannot change your mind and start mid-year. But any notice filed before June 15th in a calendar year is a notice for the PRIOR school year. AFTER June 15th the notice is for the year coming up. If the student is enrolled in a public school and wishes to unenroll and homeschool the notice can be filed at any time but there is a 5 day waiting period from filing to pulling the child unless you get it waived by the school superintendent.

This page came to life for the purpose of helping families utilize Arkansas new Education Freedom Accounts for homeschooling. Applications are available HERE . Most of this page is dedicated to helping families that are signed up for EFA accounts and homeschooling find the resources and information they need. Reviews, resource links, a search engine to locate local vendors, answers to common questions and to the odd ball questions that are harder to get a solid answer to. Taking part in the EFA program does require agreeing to take a standardized yearly test each spring and submitting those results.

Arkansas Education Alliance is available to help answer many questions new homeschooling families have. They are your go to for things like transcripts for high school and information on duel enrollment programs at the colleges in the state. They also do things like teacher and student ID’s to use for student and teacher discounts in stores and on field trips. Their FACEBOOK page is updated more regularly than the website. I would recommend it as a page to definitely follow.
