How to submit the perfect reimbursement

Ensure your reimbursements never get rejected again! See our top 3 tips, then visit the full guide on our site.

Many reimbursements are rejected for missing one of these three things:

Clear proof of payment

● You can only submit a reimbursement request for something you already paid for.

● If proof of payment isn’t obvious on the receipt, you can upload other proof.

Vendor’s contact info on receipt

● If the vendor isn’t already EFA-approved, their phone or email contact must be on your receipt.

Itemized product names and prices

● If you bought multiple products or services in one purchase, their names and prices should each be listed on your receipt.

Use lesson plans to get your requests approved

Textbooks and math tutors are one thing - what about 3D printers, compost bins, and chicken coops? Many reimbursements need your explanation and extra proof to get approved.

Use a lesson plan or documents to show how the purchase supports your child’s learning goals.

A good lesson plan shows…

What’s the goal of this project or curriculum?

Why is this purchase needed?

How will your child use this item?

Get a head start with ATLAS practice tests

Did you know your child can take ATLAS practice tests? You can find free practice tests for grades K—12 in English, math, and science on the official ATLAS portal.

ATLAS testing is expected to be available for pre-registered EFA homeschoolers in mid-April 2026.

How to take an ATLAS practice test

Step 1: On the ATLAS portal, select “Continue As Guest”

Step 2: Click “Guest Session”

Step 3: Select grade level and choose a test

Step 4: Choose support tools and click “Select”

Step 5: Complete audio/video check, then click “Begin Test Now”

Test scores aren’t available for all training tests, but it’s a great way to practice!

We asked, you answered

The new year is the perfect time for new kinds of learning, and we wanted to hear all about it. EFA kids Maxwell, Walter, and Theodore are having fun with surgical precision!

“We started a dissection club!! My three kids and their homeschooled friends meet at my house on Thursdays and spend the morning dissecting specimens together. The kids really love it; we've got ages 7 to 15 here and everyone is learning something.”
