Teens and Baking
Teens are always so sure they know everything. Wait… it’s just mine? That’s what i thought. My second daughter, 5th child, signed up and is doing the Sourdough Bread Course.
So as per the course setup she got month one box in. She hit the ground running. Was totally obsessed. Fed it religiously. THEN… she decided while making her lunch to cut a bag of chicken open with one of my butcher knives.
She’s just in there making lunch and out of the blue… Hey guys? Do fingers grow back?
Like WHAT???!!! ummm no….
So, we have been healing from finger damage (she amputated the tip) and could not touch dough or get a glove on so she was just growing her starter and following it and waiting to bake her first bread. During her injury she bartered the help of her younger brother to help her open things and put things away.
WELL… little brothers being little brothers, he is not the best with follow through, or directions. She did not check his work.
He was putting it up in a cabinet not in the fridge.
SOOOOOO - Monday she went to bake her first loaf now that her finger is usable… and… MOLD had started to grow. So Korah will be starting today again on day one of her starter. She watched the videos for months one and two and three over again yesterday to make sure she did not miss anything. We will share more of how it goes each week.
She has no plans to amputate any more fingers so I feel going in again with what she has learned already, she will be baking a lot of bread by Valentines Day.
Baketivity is available in the MARKETPLACE on classwallet.
