Family Baketivity
Korah (13) and Kel (11) both enjoy using the Baketivity boxes. This go we went boys versus girls and they each took an assistant. Part of this lesson wasn’t just about baking. Part of this lesson was learning how to interact with and manage and assist a small child in the process. Help them read the instructions, help them measure, TEACH someone else a skill that you already have.
Let me tell you it’s absolutely a HARD task with troll and brownie there. (The toddlers nicknames, well earned ones at that.) But the kits with the premeasured dry ingredients made the process 1000 times easier than hoping neither rains a shower of flour on the entire kitchen,
This day the selection was chocolate monster cupcakes for the girls team, and red velvet for the boys. The pressure was on to get it right. Competition is always high here, nothing, I mean nothing isn’t cutthroat. One toddler stole the other toddlers little salt packets and hid them though at the time we never could find where. (They were under her HAT!!)
This did not deter the boys team. They promptly looked in the instructions found what measurement was in the packets that had been lifted and grabbed the salt from the kitchen and measured it themselves.
Stay tuned for the next round. They ordered Monster Pops and another batch of monster cupcakes for a Halloween bake off.
No images available of the finished products. While judging was still in motion an entire team of beasts decended upon the bounty and not a crumb was left when the dust settled.
