EFA Weekly Email

EFA Families,

Today we will cover reimbursement from non-approved vendors, guidance on summer and 2026-27 school year expenses, and a school choice virtual fair.

Current queue dates

We are currently reviewing submissions from the following dates:

  • Reimbursement - 3/6

  • Direct Pay - 3/12

  • Marketplace - 3/18

  • Pre-approvals - 4/13

If you have a submission from before these dates that has not yet been reviewed, it is likely being given closer consideration. Feel free to reach out to ADE if you have submissions from before these dates.

Getting Reimbursed for Services from Non-EFA Approved Vendors

You can get reimbursed for eligible services from vendors who haven't yet applied for the EFA Program, but it will require additional information. All reimbursement receipts require:

  1. The name of the vendor

  2. The clear name/description of the item or service being paid for

  3. Itemized and total prices

  4. Confirmation of payment (e.g. total paid, payment method, $0 balance, etc.)

  5. Date of payment

If you are getting reimbursed for services from a vendor who is not in the program, you will need to provide two additional things:

  1. The vendor's contact information on the receipt (phone and/or email address)

  2. Additional proof of payment (credit card record, Venmo payment, check, etc.)

Note that this is only for services. Purchasing products from non-EFA vendors like Amazon and Wal-Mart will only require the basic receipt information.

Paying for 2026-27 Expenses

We have been getting a lot of questions about summer and 2026-27 expenses. All eligible expenses that take place over the summer can be paid for with EFA funds now.

Many expenses for the 2026-27 school year can also be paid for now, like curriculum, supplies, and required registration fees. What isn't eligible to be paid for now are fees for tuition, courses, and other services specifically associated with the 2026-27 school year. The new fiscal year begins July 1st. These fees can be paid after that date.

School Choice Arkansas Virtual Fair

Want to better understand your K-12 options in Arkansas? School Choice Arkansas is hosting a free Virtual Fair on Thursday, April 23rd (4–5pm CDT) to help Arkansas families explore all their education options — from charter and private schools to microschools, homeschooling, and the Education Freedom Account (EFA) program.

The event includes:

  • School Choice 101 with live Q&A, featuring School Choice Arkansas, the Reform Alliance, and the Arkansas Department of Education

  • Virtual breakout rooms to connect with school leaders and EFA-approved education providers

Can't attend live? All registrants receive a recording and follow-up resources — so registering is worthwhile regardless.
