Tax-Free Weekend Guidance

Dear Families, 

Arkansas's Tax-Free Weekend is a great opportunity to purchase certain student items without paying sales tax. We know many of our EFA families may plan to take advantage of this event, so we wanted to share a few reminders about eligibility and reimbursement requirements. 

Please note that this information is limited to EFA-eligible expenses that also qualify under Arkansas's tax-free weekend guidelines. We have attached a document that provides additional details about eligible expense categories, purchasing guidelines, and price limits for certain items. 

A few important reminders: 

• Tuition remains the highest funding priority: If your student's tuition exceeds the amount of available EFA funding, you may not have funds remaining for reimbursement of other eligible expenses, even if those expenses qualify under EFA guidelines. 

• New EFA families: To be eligible for reimbursement, purchases must be made on or after July 1, 2026. 

• Returning EFA families: Purchases are not subject to the July 1, 2026, restriction. 

• Quarter 1 funds will not be available until August 20, 2026: Families should plan accordingly when making purchases and should not expect immediate reimbursement. 



• Use preapproval if you are unsure about eligibility: If you are considering a purchase that exceeds the price limits outlined in the attached guidance document and believe there is a special circumstance that justifies the expense, you may submit a preapproval request for review.
