Today we will cover a reminder about the application deadline and a clarification on technology purchases.
Current queue dates
We are currently reviewing submissions from the following dates:
Reimbursement - 3/11
Direct Pay - 3/19
Marketplace - 4/1
Pre-approvals - 4/17
If you have a submission from before these dates that has not yet been reviewed, it is likely being given closer consideration. Feel free to reach out to ADE if you have submissions from before these dates.
Application Deadline
For anyone who hasn't completed the renewal application or the new student application, the deadline is June 1. If you aren't sure whether you have completed the renewal survey yet, you can log into ClassWallet and click on Renewal Survey. If you have completed it, you will see a message thanking you for submitting.
If you aren't sure whether you have completed a new student application, you can log into your account at arkansasefa.com and check the status of your student's application there. It should be submitted and have all required documentation. Those who applied last year will not need to reupload residency verification, but they will need to upload age verification for any new students.
Technology Purchases
All technology purchases are evaluated using the Ordinary and Necessary guidelines. We know the value of technology in education and are glad to see parents using technology to help meet their students' educational goals, but we must also monitor tech spending to make sure it is within program guidelines.
Because of the overlapping uses of computers, tablets, kindles, and other devices, the purchase of one device, especially at a higher price, can affect the eligibility of others. Students may be allowed to purchase more than one device, but we must evaluate the educational need and what has already been purchased when making this decision. If you are unsure, we encourage you to submit a pre-approval using the Pre-approval Request Form.
